Apple’s AI Empowers Developers for Effortless Code Writing
Apple is in the process of creating an AI tool aimed at assisting developers in coding applications. Reports indicate that this tool, set to be integrated into Xcode, will closely resemble Microsoft’s GitHub Copilot.
Recently, Apple has been increasingly embracing artificial intelligence. Alongside using its AI to animate still images with Keyframer, the company is now focused on developing an AI tool designed to simplify the coding process for developers.
This forthcoming tool, to be incorporated into Xcode, is expected to mirror the capabilities of GitHub Copilot, which Microsoft has provided for some time.
Apple will add artificial intelligence to Xcode
Xcode, Apple’s integrated development environment for creating software for macOS, iOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS, will soon incorporate an AI tool designed for code generation. This new AI tool from Apple will resemble Microsoft’s GitHub Copilot, capable of generating code based on natural language requests and translating code between different programming languages.
The AI tool within Xcode is expected to predict and autofill code blocks, thereby facilitating the app development process for developers. Currently, Apple is testing this feature internally, with plans to make it available to external software developers early this year. While Xcode is provided for free to developers, Apple imposes an annual fee of $99 for app submissions to its app stores.
Furthermore, Apple aims to incorporate as many new AI capabilities as possible into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS 15. This will include generative AI features for Siri and functionalities such as generating playlists in Apple Music and creating presentations in Keynote. Additionally, the “Spotlight” search functionality on Apple’s devices is expected to be enhanced with AI, offering more advanced controls.
